Work has begun!

Wow, how exciting it was to swing by the lot and see work being started! My grandparents were in town visiting and we took them by to show them where we were building. We were shocked to see that they had moved a ton of gravel onto our lot, and had framed the lot for pouring our slab! Here are pictures of the work on the lot, as well as one of Scott conquering the backyard, me in the kitchen (where I belong, supposedly!), and one of both of us in our not-quite-yet-completed master bedroom!

Our Appointment with the Design Center

This past Friday we had our appointment with the Design Center consultant to pick out all of our home's selections! It was a lot to take in. We had to pick out cabinets, counters, appliances, lighting, flooring, siding, brick, fixtures, wall colors, and the list goes on! It was a scary process, but we made it through! I wanted to take pictures of all of our selections so I won't forget what they looked like in the coming months before we move in, but unfortunately our camera battery died! So we have a few, and the rest I'll have to try to remember. But here are a few of the pictures I was able to get!

A Model Home with our Floorplan

As promised, here are some pictures that show what our home will look like once it's done. It will have the exact same floorplan shown in this model home, but we have picked different tile, carpeting, wall color, countertops, fixtures, etc. We will not have the media niche over the fireplace, that will instead be a solid wall although the built-in shelving will remain. We have added ceiling fans to each of the rooms. The window over the master bathroom's garden tub will be a glass block window. But the main idea is the same!

Now we'll head to the back patio area, this will all be covered and screened-in!







Lastly, I'd like to show you what the front exterior of the house will look like! Again, different colors of brick, siding, mortar, and trim... but the style will be the same. The yard is professionally landscaped and does come with a tree in the front and the back of the house. It may not look like this because they alternate plants to vary it up, but it will have some trees and shrubs already started for us!

Hello there! This blog is being created to show the progress of the building of our first home! I will check in as new work is being done to show you how far things have come. There won't be a certain time-frame for the check-ins; I'll probably just write in when something new or exciting happens! This way I can avoid emailing everyone when something happens, and you can just check in whenever you get curious as to where we're at in the process. Also, this is my first attempt at blogging (so behind the times!) so bear with me as I figure all of this stuff out! Alright, here for the first post, I'm going to show you our lot in all its natural splendor. Since that will be fairly boring, I'll make another post with some of the pictures of what the model home that is the same floorplan as ours will be looks like. Enjoy!
