Shingles are on!

Not a whole lot to update you on, but I figured I'd post these few pictures Scott took this afternoon. We have shingles... exciting! ;-) Oh, and our extra "green" upgrade was to have radiant barrier spray applied to the roof and attic areas to help reflect the sun and keep our attic and thus our house cooler. Lastly, our tubs/showers are in place as well. That's pretty much it, but it's coming along... check it out!

At this rate, I'll need to update everyday!

Well, at the rate that these guys are building, I might be posting everyday!! There are always huge changes every time we go by to see the house. Today since we're both off of work (and our a/c isn't working!) we went for a drive to get out of our very hot apartment. We were surprised to see that we now have all of our windows in place, and the diagonal beams are all gone so we were actually able to walk through all of the rooms! The back patio is poured and the fireplace is in... as are the tray ceilings in the master and kitchen. It was pretty neat to actually be in the house for the first time! Here's some pictures of what we saw.

Quick Update!

Well, I hadn't planned on another update until after this weekend but after Scott went by on his lunch break and took some pictures, I decided that I would go ahead and post a quick one. They are really working hard out there. Such huge changes in just 3 days! Here's some of the pictures he brought home for me to see. The first is from Wednesday and the last ones are from today. Very exciting... we've been given a new expected finish of late-October, up from December!

We've gone vertical!

Okay, here starts the good stuff... it's gone vertical! It's starting to actually look like a house!! We've been gone the past week to Ohio for Monica's wedding and just got back last night. Today we took off of work to recuperate from the trip and so we ran over to the house to see what progress might have been made while we were gone. It was only a week since the last set of pictures but it's amazing what we saw when we pulled up! We thought the slab would be poured, and *maybe* we'd have some framing. Never did I imagine they'd already be this far! Enjoy the pictures... I felt so bad for these guys standing on the "roof"... it was so hot and the sun was beating down on them while they held up all these boards. I don't envy their job at all, but we do appreciate them doing it!

Not terribly exciting...

Sorry for the delay... we've been to Ohio for Monica's wedding (Congrats again!) and it was definitely a whirlwind trip to Cleveland. It was very nice to be back home even if just for a little while, but we were anxious to get back to see how much progress had been made on the house! Before we get to that, I need to update with some pictures I took the day before we left for our trip. These show the dirt and gravel mixed together, rolled over with a tarp and covered with chicken-wire. There are also some pipes sticking out which are apparently where drains will be. I'll update again soon... the next set are much more exciting! Although we were excited to see the SOLD sign up in our yard! (The following pictures are from 8/4/08 which is why I've back-dated this post... just so I can keep track of the timeline of the house!)

Work has begun!

Wow, how exciting it was to swing by the lot and see work being started! My grandparents were in town visiting and we took them by to show them where we were building. We were shocked to see that they had moved a ton of gravel onto our lot, and had framed the lot for pouring our slab! Here are pictures of the work on the lot, as well as one of Scott conquering the backyard, me in the kitchen (where I belong, supposedly!), and one of both of us in our not-quite-yet-completed master bedroom!

Our Appointment with the Design Center

This past Friday we had our appointment with the Design Center consultant to pick out all of our home's selections! It was a lot to take in. We had to pick out cabinets, counters, appliances, lighting, flooring, siding, brick, fixtures, wall colors, and the list goes on! It was a scary process, but we made it through! I wanted to take pictures of all of our selections so I won't forget what they looked like in the coming months before we move in, but unfortunately our camera battery died! So we have a few, and the rest I'll have to try to remember. But here are a few of the pictures I was able to get!
